How do they work?
The KRINNER ground screw works on earth compression. In similar fashion to a wood screw, the KRINNER ground screw screws into the ground allowing the earth to compress around it. Using the KRINNER patented flight design, the ground screw embeds itself in the earth creating the secure foundation.
Do they work in frost?
Yes. The KRINNER ground screw has been installed all over the world and continues to be a foundation solution in extreme conditions.
Do they work in rock?
Yes. Using a variety of techniques, our installers can install in rock. While it may take more preparation and installation time, the result is the same.
Can I put them in myself?
Yes and No. We have both retail and commercial lines of the KRINNER ground screw. The KSF U-Fix 4x4 or 6x6, the Yellowtop kit, and Vario are all available to homeowners and for self-installation. We also rent a T-bar attachment to help make the installation process even easier. Any other screws are required to be installed using specialized equipment by licensed Installers.
*Please note: Only licensed installers are permitted to install the commercial KRINNER ground screws.
Where can I find a licensed installer?
We can refer you to licensed installers throughout Canada and the United States. Please contact us
and we will provide you with a licensed installer in your area.
Do they work in all conditions, all the time?
No. Just like any product, the KRINNER ground screw may not be the right product for every project. However, the applications are so numerous, that we know it is just a matter of time before you have a use for them!
What are the benefits?
As stated above, the KRINNER ground screw system works on earth compression by embedding itself into the ground. This process allows for minimal ground disturbance, thereby limiting the foundation’s footprint.
The ground screws also can be installed in a fraction of the time of traditional foundation systems. A 6 foot screw can be installed in moderate soil in 5-7 minutes.
How do I choose what KRINNER ground screw is right for me?
Give us a call or stop in to Griff
and we can discuss your project and decide what screws are right for you. The more information we have the easier we can make the right decision.
Factors such as soil type, climate, application and required load are just a few of the factors we use to determine the proper screw you need for your project.
*Please note: Do not judge a screw by what it looks like! No matter what the screw looks like, it is important we take all the information and determine the proper KRINNER ground screw.
Are all screw piles made the same?
No. The KRINNER ground screw system is a patented screw foundation system and the worldwide leader in screw-in foundation technology. If you are not buying a screw pile from Griff Building Supplies, or another authorized KRINNER distributor, you are not purchasing a KRINNER ground screw. All of our information, quotes and specifications are non-transferable to other screw pile systems.
The KRINNER ground screw is comprised of steel that has been double, hot dip galvanized. Galvanized steel "is the most recycled material in the world with approximately 90% of steel and 80% of available zinc recycled" (American Galvanizers Association). In addition to that, the KRINNER ground screw requires no concrete or digging and has a minimal physical footprint when installed in the ground. One of the most exciting aspects to the KRINNER ground screw is the fact that they are removable and reusable, allowing for both permanent and temporary structures and hard to access, environmentally sensitive areas.
